There’s still time to register for St. Louis Community College’s 11th annual Bowling for Scholars fundraiser this month.

It’s organized by the STLCC Foundation and Auxiliary Services (campus bookstores). All proceeds go toward student scholarships for course materials, such as textbooks, and bus passes.

“Come out and enjoy a cheap and fun social opportunity, interact with staff in a laid-back setting and have a good time networking,” said Christie Hart, Forest Park bookstore manager.

The fundraiser will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. April 17 at Tropicana Lanes in Richmond Heights. It has 52 lanes available.

The cost is $25 per person ($125 for a five-person team), which includes ball and shoe rentals and commemorative T-shirts.

Beyond bowling, there will be a silent auction and raffle prizes, including a 16-inch TV set, compact refrigerator and Coke memorabilia.

“It is really a big party,”Hart said. “Loud and engaged people with adult beverages — a pure blast.”

Bowling for Scholars has raised more than $290,000 since it was started in 2005. Sponsorships are available from $150 to $10,000.

Scholarships are awarded to non-Pell Grant students through campus Financial Aid offices.
