Forest Park police and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating an alleged rape on campus Sept. 22.
An 18-year-old female student filed a complaint on Oct. 27, accusing another student of raping her in an elevator, according to Dan Kimack, public information and marketing director for St. Louis Community College.
“Within an hour of the hearing the complaint, campus police had the accused in for questioning,” he said. “We reached out to the St. Louis police department, then we took the accused over for questioning.”
Police also spoke with other witnesses, Kimack said.
The accused Forest Park student is 19 years old, Kimack said.
“STLCC has temporarily suspended this individual, who is not permitted on campus pending additional investigation,” according to an email alert sent to Forest Park students, faculty and staff.
Kimack declined to reveal the location of the elevator, the time of the alleged rape, what injuries may have occurred or any other circumstances.
“Both STLCC and St. Louis Metropolitan Police Departments are conducting an investigation,” he said. “And we cannot share any information from internal reports that might jeopardize an ongoing investigation.”
Forest Park students, faculty and staff received an email alert from STLCC Public Information and Marketing on Oct. 27.
“The St. Louis Community College-Forest Park Police Department this morning was notified of an alleged sexual assault that occurred on the Forest Park campus approximately 30 days ago,” it read.
“STLCC police and the St. Louis police department took the accused individual into custody. Following questioning, the individual was released by St. Louis police; however, STLCC has temporarily suspended this individual, who is not permitted on campus pending additional investigation.”
The college also tweeted an alert on Oct. 27. It read, “STLCC-FP Police notified today of sexual assault on campus 30 days ago. Individual suspended/banned from campus pending investigation.”
